After her show-stopping return to the runway last year, we obviously had to bring back the one-and-only Joan Smalls. We sat down with long-time angels to talk all things fashion show, lifestyle, dream musical talent, and more. Read on to get the scoop.
Q: What song should be playing during your Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show walk?
A: “Bad Bunny and the song is called ‘EoO’.”
Q: If you had to write the tagline for this year’s fashion show, what would it be?
A: “It would have to be something spicy—so it fits my personality and what I envision. Ohh…’Get ready, you’re in for a surprise’.”
Q: What energy are you bringing to the show this year?
A: “Being in the moment, having fun, walking fierce, and feeling powerful.”
Q: If you could share the runway with anyone living or dead, who would you want to share it with?
A: “I would have to say Angelina Jolie.”
Q: Do you remember the first time you walked in a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show?
A: “Yes, I was really nervous because as a kid I would always watch the shows, I would always get the catalogs, and I would always see the women with angel wings. It felt like a vision and a dream. So, being there for the first time I was like, wow, I’m actually in what I used to see. You have this ah-ha moment. And I was a little bit nervous, I was excited—a lot of adrenaline—and it was fun.”
Q: What musician do you think should perform at this year’s show?
A: “Bad Bunny, Janet Jackson, Missy Elliot would be good, and Victoria Monét.”
Q: What’s your dream Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show afterparty?
A: “If you guys steal this, I want to cut! I think it should be a pajama party. It’s part of the brand—everybody dresses up and reinvents what it is to have a pajama party and just blasts music.”
Q: What’s your star sign?
A: “Cancer.”
Q: What qualities are you attracted to in another person?
A: “Confidence, a good sense of humor, and empathy.”
Q: What’s your idea of happiness?
A: “Freedom.”
Q: What’s your greatest extravagance?
A: “Travel—making sure I travel comfortably and to destinations I’ve always wanted to see.”
Q: What’s the last thing you took a photo of?
A: “A behind-the-scenes picture.”
